Knorr Excellence – the program that delivers excellence across Knorr-Bremse.

Every day we aim to get even better.

Outstanding products and services depend on a lived culture of innovation and perfection. A vital component of this culture is the ability to identify new requirements at an early stage – responding to market and societal developments – and find intelligent solutions to meet these needs, advancing the state of the engineering art and offering added value for our customers. At Knorr-Bremse we’ve created the Knorr Excellence program to lay down the organizational framework for the ongoing optimization of all our fields of activity and processes.

Achieving a continuous improvement in all our procedures and across all Group locations is the program’s central thrust. Striving for excellence is about establishing the shared understanding, the organizational framework and the management structure that make excellence achievable.

Knorr Excellence connects up management systems and procedures that define uniform performance standards across business units and regions. We set targets, measure target attainment using concrete indicators and document successes so that knowledge can flow freely from one part of the Group to another. The Knorr Excellence program also involves informing and engaging all our employees, raising awareness in order to ensure that the drive to achieve optimum performance is embedded in all our operations. When improvement measures are identified these are rolled out across the divisions and business units in special initiatives led by dedicated managers. Steering groups monitor their implementation using established measurement and analysis tools and a relevant set of key indicators.

In business terms Knorr Excellence aims to secure growth, profitability and financial robustness, consolidating Knorr-Bremse’s “best in class” status. Ever since this program was introduced in 2007 it has been intensively developed and enhanced, reflecting its central importance to the Group.
